Not all workshops are profitable. Breweries, silversmiths and tanneries (unsure on that one) seem to be the go to money makers right now. It also depends on caravans being there, if the faction is at war, etc. You won’t make money just slappping a workshop down in any town. Plus, they take longer than they used to in order to ramp up profits. How you want to make money will ultimately depend on you character. There are quite a lot of threads out there about making money so you could google those for tips but I'll give my 2 cents below. The first thing some people will do is sign up as a freelancer in a lord's army. Buying and then selling it only costs you 2-3k denars net, and you get a free 'switch production' when you first buy it. It takes a few weeks for the effects on the market to become evident, but eventually you'll be able to make your money back and then some by buying the cheap manufactured goods to sell elsewhere. make certain factors responsible for the profits of a workshop such as provincial stability, availability of raw resources, demand of the finished product etc, im not sure if thats what they are already doing but making a hard cap like that doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the game, even though wood workshops were way too OP this nerf was a My second workshop is still stuck at 0.
